Blind Women’s Triangular Cricket Tournament 2026 to Be Held in Chandigarh on February 7–8

Chandigarh, February 4, 2026:
The Cricket Association for the Visually Challenged Persons (Chandigarh), in collaboration with the Institute for the Blind, Sector 26, Chandigarh, is organizing the Blind Women’s Triangular Cricket Tournament 2026 on February 7 and 8. The matches will be played at GMSSSS Ground, near Timber Market, Sector 26, Chandigarh.

During a press conference held in Sector 10, Puneet Chhabra, State Director of the Anti-Corruption Foundation of India, informed that this prestigious tournament is being organized in Chandigarh for the first time.

Teams from Chandigarh, Haryana, and Delhi—all affiliated with the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI)—will participate in the tournament. The Chandigarh team will be led by captain Jia. The primary objective of the event is to provide visually impaired women an opportunity to excel through sports, build self-confidence, and promote inclusion and empowerment in society. The official media partner for the tournament is Chandigarh Dinbhar.

The tournament is being organized under the leadership of Dinesh Kumar Kapila (Chief Patron), Suparna Sachdeva (Patron Member), Rakesh Sharma (Patron Member), Bhagwan Singh Bhandari (President), Ashwani Kumar Sharma (Vice President), Sukhbir Singh (General Secretary), and Harleen Kaur (Joint Secretary). Their guidance and dedication continue to inspire young and emerging players.

Office bearers of the organizing association stated that such initiatives not only strengthen self-confidence, team spirit, and leadership skills among visually impaired women but also reinforce the values of equality and inclusion in society.

The inaugural ceremony of the tournament will be held on February 7 at 10:30 AM, with Shri Harchand Singh, Chairman, Punjab Mandi Board, gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The organizers have appealed to sports enthusiasts, educational institutions, and the general public to attend the tournament in large numbers and encourage the players.
